Cage Array and Cell Capture

Single cells are isolated in the cage array, a thin polymeric membrane bearing thousands of 100um cages, each with a 3um hole at its floor. The array is covered with a thin gold and silicone oxide layers, improving its optical capabilities. Cell capture is achieved by gently pumping a cell suspension through the array. When a cell flows into a cage, it immediately blocks the hole, preventing other cells from entering.
